Listen weekday afternoons at 3:40 all this week as Jay & Chris profile Stephanie McIlroy on the Local Spotlight.

Singing since the age of five, Stephanie McIlroy has always had a desire to pour out her heart to audiences. She never really recognized it as a serious talent until her late twenties.

Growing up in farm country near Windsor, Ontario, in the small town of Merlin gave her hours of sitting in her room listening to the radio. Little did she know that she was given a gift and learning to put her thoughts into words and bringing them to life with music. It took some courage and a little encouragement from her peers to tell her to share her own music with people around the world.

Stephanie recently finished her debut CD “Life Is Not An Act” and is seeing success with her first two singles “Forever” and “Forgiven”, both of which spin here at 99.1 CKXS. The new album is produced by Brad Dugas of Revelation Sound out of Guelph.

Following the release of her debut album, Stephanie was hand chosen to perform in front of the Prime Minister and his wife at a local event, as well as meeting and speaking to Mr. Harper, who requested a copy of Stephanie’s album.

Steph’s band is a group of seasoned musicians who have played for over thirty years in the business. She is proud to call them her band. Her manager Jennifer Mott is leading Stephanie in the right direction. She is exactly what Stephanie has been waiting for to take her to the next level in her career.

If you listen to her music, then you have just had coffee with Stephanie. If you want to get to know her, then just listen closely to her lyrics. If she’s been through something, then so have many other people. She is a raw lyricist. Stephanie has been descibed as somone who writes from her gutt. What you see is really what you get with Stephanie.

She is planning what 2011 is to hold for her as she gets ready to play her music all over Canada as many doors open. The New 99.1 FM CKXS was one of the first stations to pick up her debut CD and single, “Life’s Not An Act.”

Stephanie McIlroy: “Music for me shows what’s in my heart, the journey I’ve taken, the wrong paths I’ve gone down and the challenges I’ve faced. As you listen to my music, you will hear a warm conversation, a vibrant voice and feel my passion. I hope you will benefit in some way by listening to my music, gain perspective, find inspiration and know you are not alone. My music is a cross over combination of blues, rock and some country. It’s totally unique like nothing you’ve heard before. I invite you to take this journey with me. Grab a cup of java for us to share as we chat through my music and imagine the beautiful kaleidoscope as it turns us both to a new page with a new view.”

Things are just getting started. Come along for the ride. You are invited to watch the journey unfold!
